HuntingandFishinginCanada

Welcome to Hunting and Fishing Canada, the blog for those seeking a better experience on their next fishing trip. My name is Kevin Palmer and I am the Outdoors Manager responsible for letting the world know about the recreational outdoor opportunities at one of the greatest geographic locations for trophy walleye, northern pike, lake trout and some of the best hunting found anywhere.

Another main purpose of this blog is to gain the opinions of top Anglers and Hunters on our plans BEFORE we decide on one specific direction over another...so your opinions will actually drive some of the strategy going forward.

As with other blogs, let's keep it clean - professional & helpful: many tips and tricks that some find elementary are new to some else (me!!) so let's not laugh about stupid questions!

For those of you in the Province of Manitoba, my cellular line is 204.918 0821 and I am always available for your calls, questions and concerns. For those of you wishing a great fishing experience or an amazing EXTREME hunting Canada experience - go here and type in your request, our lodges and outfitters will be only to happy to shower you with suggestions for your next big adventure.

Check out some of my photography from the past here: www.superiorimagecom.com/stock3.htm and here: www.superiorimagephotography.ca

take care and let's get rolling on a new adventure!

Hello
First off i would like to congratulate Manitoba for finally recognizing what we have and getting behind the outdoor tourism professionals, mainly with respect to hunting.
As for a marketing campaign, i have begun to market our Whitetail deer hunting in such a way that i beleive the entire province would benefit. My idea is to promote our deer hunts as what they actually are. Real fair chase hunts in Manitoba.
But here is where we must be careful and stay positive and creative, not competitive! We do not want to be critical of any other Province, hunting method or tactics. We just want to tell it how and what it is here.
What i have focused on is that when a hunter harvests a trophy Whitetail deer in Manitoba, it is a trophy to be Extra Proud, because that deer was hunted fair chase on it's terms, and every deer hunter knows how much perseverence, dedication, patience, disiplne, practice and time it takes to get that once in a lifetime trophy.
We could be recognized as the province that hunters go to test their skills, and upon success, can be extra proud of their trophy. It is a huge accomplishment alone, to have a mature deer come into shooting range on a fair chase hunt , and to harvest one it means that hunter has developed his skills as a deer hunter and can be extra proud.
My slogan is "Hang em high" meaning hang that whitetail trophy higher on the wall than the others. It truly is an accomplishment that few can declare.

The key part in this is to stay positive and creative not competitive. The later can be harmful and not a path that we want to go down.
Manitoba needs an identity, we already have achieved status as the place to go for big bears and color phases, excellent fishing and endless nature. Now with Whitetail deer hunting we just need to sell it for what it is, and capitalize on it. Just like many other sports, pastimes and traditions, there is that one place or event that one will test their personal skills and be proud that they could.
In time Manitoba could be that destination for Whitetail hunters.
Manitoba has some exceptional deer hunting and many believe the next world record deer could come from here, i am one of them. Having lived and hunted in several other provinces, i know Manitoba has many huge deer but lacked in the promoting of it.
Just my thoughts, and a bit of how i am promoting my hunting pkgs. It would work better for all of us if we could agree to work together with major marketing campaigns. If my marketing money and efforts don't sell all my hunts, i hope they sell some for other Manitoba outfitters and not someplace else.

I agree with your marketing strategies. I know it is a significant accomplishment to outsmart a whitetail deer in his own habitat.
I do believe the next world record will come from Manitoba

Great commentary - what about some names other than "hang'em high" which has a really violent connotation and I know that we'll never get approval on.

"King of the North" has been bantered about.

What other names? Who are the top ten clients of the outfitters? We should talk to them and find out what they like, dislike, media they watch read or listen to, where we can find more people with the same habits and so forth.

Once they tell us where to go to find more people like them - we'll spend in that direction.

Make sense?

Let me know,

Kevin

Hahahaa yes "hang em high" is a bit much for provincial verbage. I like it for my slogan though, and so do my hunters.

The idea is to make hunting Manitoba Whitetail like the Indianapolis 500.
True challenge and trophy that hunters can be extra proud of.

"Northern Monarchs" "Kings of Canada"
"Deer hunters challenge"

A slogan that really indicates our deer hunting as something special.

Just back from both Pheasant Run and the Reno Hunting Show.

Travel Manitoba may be placing a larger emphasis on promoting the shows and not so much emphasis on actually being at the shows.

Your commentary?
